About
Artistic statement
With her work as artist, Ioana chooses to explore a variety of themes, including female empowerment and motherhood, as well as human psychology and the subconscious. Art and painting represent for her transformation, healing, a petrified relationship between the body and the subconscious. In her portraiture and abstract figurative compositions, the body is escaping itself, becoming an outer energy, fighting against gravity. In her paintings the artist prefers exploiting the moment, the intensity of the inertia, of the unprepared, paint itself becoming a powerful material, a texture, for expressing the tectonic movement, the motion of the energy on the canvas.
