An Asian residence with an industrial rawness

Lisbon, Portugal, 2021

A sophisticated style with a Japanese inspiration and an industrial rawness, softened by the addition of the wood beams, to create rhythm and directionality and emphasize the areas. A flexible work space or spontaneous social hang out. Effortless and simple, but also practical.

The extended wooden platform of the living room articulates the space and the function, creating a harmonious and continuous visual experience. The entrance has been emphasized with the use of the wood lattice and also the volumetric cut in the separation wall, to create a flowing visual movement through the residence.

The design of the residence was made as an open space, having in the center the creative spaces for the artist. Multifunctionality from a flexible work space into a guest sleeping area, using a Murphy bed. Key lighting elements are used to create an interesting visual composition.

The day light is a constrain because of the narrow basement windows. The client wants different spaces in his residence, such as a sculpture studio, a photography studio with a light box incorporated, a tatami area.

The inspiration for this approach was the passions of the client, who is a traveler and an art lover. The gallery space is remodeled in a minimalist way so that the photos and the sculptures exhibited to be showcased in a neutral space.

A sophisticated space for a creative soul whose aesthetic passion expresses itself in both style and mood.

Function and form – Every piece of furniture serves a purpose. Space maximized – A minimalist approach to maximize each room. Natural details – Wooden floor and accents were used whenever possible, to soften the space.
